Disability employment has been described as a sector in crisis.
In South Australia, the financial collapse of Bedford Group affected around 1400 people living with a disability who seek meaningful work. The federal government says it’s providing $45m for support programs, but advocates say there’s a need for a road map for such organisations as they face pressure to reform to provide award wages and offer employment outside sheltered environments.
