Miners are exploring the new frontier of the ocean and staking out tenements in the hope of extracting minerals from the sea floor. One of the areas of interest is Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory. But traditional owners are worried seabed mining will destroy their cultural songlines, which run between the mainland and the island, while the Baniyala group from Blue Mud Bay want to open the door to the controversial mining practice.
